A livewell is a tank found on many fishing boats is used to keep bait and caught fish alive. It works by using pumping fresh water from the surrounding body into the tank, as well as keeping the water aerated. The marine livewell pumps usually do a good job of aerating the livewell tank but sometimes an aerator pump is used.
An aerator pump is used to add oxygen to the water, allowing fish to breathe easily. Air pumps for tanks are typically connected to an aeration device, such as a micro bubble diffuser or air stone. Keep the marine livewell pump and aerator pump running anytime you have bait and the fish you catch in a tank.
