TZ Navigator Weather Routing Module - Digital Download
Navigate Safely & Efficiently
Like all sailors know, the most direct route isn't always the best one. The new Routing Module now combines its revolutionary algorithm allowing you to calculate the optimal sailing route based on weather forecasts, currents, polars of your yacht and your own navigation style, with the powerful features of the former Advanced Routing Module to make one product.
More performance in routing calculation
The new Routing module offers accuracy and flexibility for the most demanding sailing conditions making the software routing calculation easier. It allows advanced sailors to manually control and adjust the weather file parameters in order to get more accurate results. It also introduces the variability notion, helping the skipper to identify the particular moments in the navigation where strategy choices are critical.
Routing Module Features:
Waves are used for routing computation along with wind and currents
One click comparison between several routes and animations to evaluate multiple scenarios
Option to pass a waypoint, leaving it Port or Starboard during multi waypoint routing computation
Alternative Routing
Routing variability calculation and display
Weather File Adjustment
Its use is more intuitive and user-friendly for recreational boaters, while offering multiple setting options for experienced sailors
Routing variability calculation & display
After having created a routing you can display on chart the variability.Variability's value allows identifying quickly important variation of wind direction and strength which require from the skipper a supplementary expertise of his forecasts, routing and sourcing files.
The variability is equal to 100% if wind direction and strength are stable
It will decrease to 80% if the routing shows important variations of the wind direction and strength. It indicates as well the weather transition for example a ridge with a gradient decreasing of pressure thus of wind
Variability is symbolized in the Routing tree by a more or less strong display density (as it is shown in the picture above beside).
Areas colored in Black indicate weather transitions. A very dense black corresponds to a variability < 70 % and it is thus necessary to cross it in the shortest after an analysis more refined and recalculating a new routing before changing criteria as well as modifying parameters and files sources
Light areas show the "Corridors" where weather conditions are more stable depending to forecasts
The ability to overlay both together variability and Sailset allows you to clearly view each transition of different ways (as ridge) across the routing. The Variability value is indicated in each line of the Routing center which corresponds to a time period of the weather routing.
Weather File Adjustment
It is possible to adjust the wind forecast data values, in order, for example, to take into account the hours or wind direction or wind speed, which has been prevailing in the zone for several days.
Increase or decrease the wind speed (%): move the cursor along the slide bar to modify to increase or decrease the percentage
Increase or decrease the wind speed (value): enter directly a value
Change Weather File Time: enter a specific time HH:MM
Change Weather File in Latitude and Longitude
Change Weather File Direction
Increase or decrease in percentage Waves and/or Current values

As a side note: I thought everyone would be interested in reading this news release. Auctioning water in our lifetime…who would have thought it.
First Calif. auction will occur this fall (09/24/2009)
In what is believed to be an unprecedented move, a Southern California water agency plans to auction off enough water in the Chino Basin this fall to supply about 70,000 homes for a year.
"Water in general has always been a very low-priced commodity, and I think the reality is, it's going to start catching up with other utilities. It's going to fluctuate with markets," said Ken Manning, chief executive of Chino Basin Watermaster, a quasi-public entity that manages the basin. "Whether that's right or wrong, I don't know. I just know where it's going."
Water sales are not uncommon in the state, especially in times of drought. But the water auction appears to be the first of its kind.
The Chino Basin is one of the largest groundwater basins in Southern California.
So far, there are expected to be three types of bidders, according to Manning: local water agencies, Southland developers who under state law must show there is enough water to supply new projects and private investment groups that deal in natural resources.
Chino Basin Watermaster plans to auction a total of 36,000 acre-feet, sold in four blocks, in the online auction, which will take place in November.
Manning said he believes the water will go for between $800 and $1,000 an acre-foot, or roughly $30 million. Underground storage in the basin will cost another $30 million.
"We think we're offering a reliable product. It's in the ground. So it will demand a higher price," he said (Bettina Boxall, Los Angeles Times, Sept. 24). – JK

Tighten up security before you shop on Cyber Monday.
Make sure all software on your computer and mobile device is up-to-date, including your OS, browser, and other apps. And if you don't already have it, install a cybersecurity program on your desktop and mobile device (whether it's a Mac or PC) that prevents malware infection to insure maximum coverage.
Never Ever use debit cards to shop online.
Do you want to give cybercriminals direct access to your bank account?
Banks are not like credit card companies. They will bounce your mortgage payment, your car payment and any other bill you have. It usually takes about ten days or more to get things straightened out. By then you have real bills that are bouncing.
Make sure you are on a secure connection.
Look for the padlock icon to the left of the URL when you go to check out. The URL should read “https” and not just “http.
Do Not open Cyber Monday emails with attachments, Dump them in the garbage.
Cyber Monday emails with attachments, especially zip files, are super suspect that they have malware attached to them. Delete them immediately.
Watch out for social media scams, especially on Facebook
Go directly to a store's website instead of using search engines to look for deals.
Delete any Pop-Up it could be redirecting you to a fake site

Purchasing and owning a boat is a major investment. If you want to get the most from your investment, you must keep your boat in working order and in good condition.
Many new boat owners don’t know how to keep up with maintenance. Fortunately, it’s not impractical if you understand what boat maintenance entails and develop a system. Below, CLR Marine discusses some maintenance essentials to prolong your boat’s lifespan and avoid safety issues on the water!
Engines
No component is perhaps more critical than your boat’s engine. Engine failure is not only inconvenient but can also be dangerous when you’re out on the water. That’s why it’s important to prepare and repair your engine while you’re on land and have access to the necessary parts.
There are many steps to checking and maintaining a boat engine, but here are a few of the most crucial ones
●Replace all engine filters and fluids each year.
●Inspect all hoses and clamps, replacing them as needed.
●Inspect the fuel system for leaks or damage, and replace any components that are not in tiptop shape.
●Regularly evaluate the ventilation and exhaust systems.
●Regularly inspect the raw water pump, replacing the rubber impeller once a year.
●Closely evaluate hoses, cables, and any other engine components.
The easiest way to keep up with the responsibilities is to use PDF files to track, update, and share maintenance schedules and duties. Use this tool to add pages to a PDF and easily modify the document as needed.
Electrical Components
Your boat’s electrical system is also challenging to maintain when you’re already on the water. Avoid leaving the radio, light, or other electrical parts on for extended periods when the engine is running; otherwise, you could face a dead battery.
Inspecting the battery and cable connection for corrosion and other damage is also a good idea. Replace the battery, cables, breakers, switches, fuses, and any other parts that need it. Further, you’ll want to ensure all the lights are functioning and that you have quality jumper cables for emergencies.
Hull, Propeller, and Motor
It’s critical to check the hull, propeller, and motor to ensure they are in top condition. Fight the temptation to procrastinate on replacing any necessary components until next season. The last thing you want to do is forget and face problems on the water.
The propellers should be properly secured, straight, and undamaged. Ensure the hull doesn’t have any distortions, cracks, or blisters, and give it a good deep cleaning. While you’re at it, evaluate your anchor and its rode to confirm they are up to the task.
Safety Gear
The importance of having a good set of jumper cables for emergencies. Several other items are necessary to protect you and others on the water. Make sure you have the following safety equipment and that they’re in working order:
●Life jackets
●Fire extinguishers
●Carbon monoxide detector
●A basic first aid kit
●An emergency signal kit
Cosmetics
Finally, you want to ensure your boat looks the part. This means cleaning it regularly and winterizing it for the cold months. Also, Make sure you have the right to use the right supplies and tactics to keep your vinyl upholstery sparkling and free of mildew stains.
Don’t allow your investment to go to waste. Keeping up with boat maintenance is essential for keeping your boat safe, functioning, and attractive. Coming up with a schedule and a checklist can make the difference between enjoying a long-lasting boat and paying for expensive repairs.

Vessel Data Recorder Includes M003029 VDR100
Maretron's Vessel Data Recorder (VDR100) is used to record messages transmitted from every product interconnected on the vessel's NMEA 2000® network. Each message is stored using solid-state memory technology with simple data retrieval via a removable USB flash drive. The supplied 16 Gbyte USB Flash Drive will hold weeks or more of data, and with the optional purchase of a larger USB Flash Drive, a year or more of data can be stored. And you never have to worry about losing the most recent data because the VDR100 uses a circular buffer where the oldest data is overwritten only after the entire memory is filled.
Recorded vessel data can be used in many ways including performance analysis, vessel tracking, preventative maintenance, network diagnostics, warranty incident, and accident investigation, all in an effort to reduce operating cost and improve safety. As an example of how the recorded data might be used, consider an NMEA 2000® fuel flow monitor plugged into the network, which will provide a complete record of how much fuel was used and how fast it was used. With a GPS antenna/receiver plugged into the NMEA 2000® network, you will have a complete record of where the vessel has been including its speed and course over ground.
Analyzing and graphing recorded data is done using a spreadsheet program like Microsoft® Excel®. Simply remove the USB Flash Drive and plug it into a PC or Mac and run Maretron's free extraction software (N2KExtractor®). Choose any or all of the recorded data including the associated dates and times and the program will create a comma delimited file (.csv) that can be read into a spreadsheet for graphing or any other type of data analysis.
With the VDR100, you have a complete record of all the information produced by NMEA 2000® products connected to the vessel's network. And because the VDR100 is engineered and manufactured to the highest standards (IEC 60945 Maritime Navigation and Radio Communication Equipment), your data is safely protected in a compact waterproof housing.
USB Flash Drives
Depending on how much data you wish to record without overwriting older data, the following table can be used to determine the capacity of the USB Flash Drive you need. These figures are estimated assuming a 25% loaded system (approx 463 frames/second).
Features:
Data recorded on solid state memory via removable USB flash drive
Circular buffer preserves latest recorded data while oldest data overwritten when memory is full
Recorded data available for performance analysis, vessel tracking, preventive maintenance, and more
Optional waterproof USB flash drive cover
Free data extraction software (N2KExtractor®) builds comma delimited files for data analysis

The GO9 XSE offers true ease of use with intuitive touchscreen controls that smartphone and tablet users will find instantly familiar. Tap to create or select waypoints, pinch to zoom, or tap and drag to pan smoothly across charts. Simple home screen and menu layouts make all functions quickly accessible, with large and clearly-captioned icons that are easy to recognize and tap.
Chartplotter Navigation & Waypoint Management
The GO9 XSE is a full-featured chartplotter, with support for the widest available range of cartography options including C-MAP® MAX-N+, Navionics®, Insight®, Insight Genesis®, and NV Digital® Charts. Navigate confidently to destinations near and far, with the flexibility to choose charts that best fit your needs and location. Set and record those destinations easily with simple waypoint management: mark waypoints with a touch, and assign meaningful names that make it easy to look up your desired destination whether you've mapped out ten places or a thousand.
Expand Your View with a Simrad Radar Solution
The Simrad GO9 XSE is a full-featured radar display with plug-and-play connectivity to Simrad Broadband 3G, Broadband 4G, and Halo Pulse Compression radar systems. Cruise confidently through crowded harbors, navigate safely in poor visibility, keep an eye on distant weather cells, and find flocks of feeding birds that hint at good fishing spots. Automatic tuning helps to provide a clear radar picture in any conditions, while radar overlay combines radar data with navigational charts for an easy-to-interpret view of your surroundings.
Fully Customisable Interface
The Simrad GO9 XSE is fully customizable to suit your vessel and your favorite on-water activities from power boating, to fishing, to water sports. Customize your home screen with shortcuts to the features you use most, and personalize it with your choice of wallpaper. Adjustable split-screen views and customizable panel layouts let you see everything you need on-screen at once, whatever your activity.
Plan Smarter with TripIntel™ Technology
Designed for power boaters, TripIntel technology tracks and displays the key information you need to plan safe and enjoyable days on the water. Make smart decisions with fuel range overlaid on charts, easy access to current and future tide levels, and a detailed history of your previous trips including the route you took and how your boat performed.
Built-in 10 Hz GPS receiver*
With a high-speed GPS receiver updating your position ten times every second, the Simrad GO9 XSE is ideal for use aboard fast-moving RIBs and powerboats. Watch your boat's movement tracked smoothly, accurately, and in real-time, without 'jumping' from point to point on the display.
Cruise Charting View
Designed with power boating in mind, the Simrad GO9 XSE offers a unique Cruise Charting page that brings together crucial navigation data and charts in one easily readable display. Choose the information most relevant to your cruising style and on-water activities with the ability to edit on-screen data items.
NMEA 2000® Engine Monitoring & Instrumentation
The Simrad GO9 XSE connects to any NMEA 2000®-capable equipment aboard your vessel including outboard and inboard engines; fuel level and flow meters; speed, heading, and water temperature sensors; and much more. Create your own custom digital instrument displays, bringing a wealth of information to even the most crowded dash while keeping a clean look with as few gauges as possible.
Watch Your Depth with Built-in Sonar
Knowing the true depth beneath your hull can help you enjoy your time on the water with fewer worries, and makes it easier to locate suitable anchorages in unfamiliar waters. With built-in sonar, just add a suitable sonar transducer for accurate, real-time depth tracking. A scrollable depth history view lets you track back and easily set waypoints for promising anchorages, while StructureScan Imaging combines DownScan and SideScan sonar to offer a picture-like view of the bottom beneath your vessel.
Cruise Confidently with ForwardScan Sonar
Using an optional ForwardScan transducer, this forward-looking sonar technology provides a clear two-dimensional image of the bottom in front of your vessel, allowing you to navigate shallow or poorly-charted waters with confidence. With real-time updates and a forward-looking view of up to eight times your current depth, ForwardScan lets you relax and enjoy a safer day on the water.
Find fish with CHIRP & StructureScan® HD sidescan imaging
Whether fishing is your life or just a casual hobby, any fishing trip will benefit from the extensive array of built-in sonar technology on the Simrad GO9 XSE. Add a suitable transducer, available separately or bundled with your display, and the GO9 XSE works as a powerful fishfinder with CHIRP-enabled broadband sonar for clear detection of fish throughout the water column. With an optional HDI or Active Imaging 3-in-1, the GO9 XSE also offers StructureScan HD sidescan imaging for a picture-like view of fish-holding structure beneath and around your boat.
Simrad SonicHub®2 & Bluetooth® Audio Integration
If you're not at home on the water without a good soundtrack, the Simrad SonicHub®2 marine audio system is the perfect companion to a GO9 XSE display. Stream music from Bluetooth® connected tablets, smartphones, and other mobile devices, play MP3 files from a USB flash drive, or listen to the SonicHub 2's built-in AM/FM radio. SonicHub 2 brings complete control of your audio entertainment to your GO9 XSE display, eliminating the need for a separate stereo head-unit and letting you listen to your music, your way.
GoFree™ cloud enabled with Built-in Wi-Fi
With Wi-Fi built-in, the Simrad GO9 XSE provides direct access to GoFree cloud services including easy wireless map downloads, software updates, and more. Whether hooked up to your home Wi-Fi with your boat trailered in the driveway, logged in to your marina's Wi-Fi, or tethered to your smartphone out on the lake, you can access GoFree cloud services anywhere you have an internet connection. On the water, GoFree connects the Simrad GO9 XSE to your mobile devices, mirroring your display's screen on your smartphone or giving you full remote control from your tablet with the free GoFree Controller app.
SiriusXM Weather Integration
The Simrad GO9 XSE is the only GO Series display compatible with SiriusXM Marine satellite weather, via the optional WM-4 expansion module, for real-time access to weather information right on your display. With onboard access to weather radar, surface buoy reports, NOAA Marine Zone forecasts and more, you can check out the conditions offshore before you even leave the dock. SiriusXM Marine is a subscription service, exclusively available within North America.
* Built-in GPS receiver works in any bracket-mount installation, and when flush-mounted with most fiberglass hulls. When flush-mounted in a metal hulled vessel, an external GPS receiver such as the Simrad GS25 may be required.
