New Product Preview
Including 3D Multi-beam Sonar & Radars
For NavNet TZtouch & TZtouch2
The Miami Boat show marks the opening of an event that each year continues to set the tone for the recreational boating industry. Furuno would like to introduce the boating public to some exciting new products. We'd like to provide you with a preview of the upcoming products.
The star of this year's show for Furuno is certain to be the all-new DFF3D Multi-beam Sonar. We're proud to bring 3D underwater viewing and side-scanning capabilities to our flagship NavNet TZtouch and TZtouch2 MFDs, with this all-new DFF3D black box module. This Multi-beam Sonar takes the highly-desired ability to scan port to starboard under the vessel and ups the ante by displaying unique 3D Sounder History that presents a very intuitive three-dimensional image of the seafloor, along with icons depicting fish distribution. This mode is extremely useful for locking-in on fishing hot spots and assessing the seabed condition. Leveraging Furuno's unique commercial fisheries experience and technology, the DFF3D delivers a sidebar detection range of an unprecedented 650+ feet, while also seeing down to over 1,000 feet, possibly making it the only Sounder many fishermen will need!
The DFF3D is scheduled to begin shipping later this spring and will initially be paired with an all-new, motion stabilized multi-beam, thru-hull transducer. Additional transducer options, including a transom mount version, will be available later in the year. Please take a few moments to check out the videos below and accompanying DFF3D brochure that will introduce you to the many features, abilities and benefits of this revolutionary new fishing machine from Furuno!
Enhancing NavNet TZtouch and TZtouch2 sensor options doesn't stop with the DFF3D Multi-beam Sonar. Furuno's already extensive and award-winning DRS family of ultra-high definition Radar sensors is expanding. With the 2016 introduction of the DRS6AX X-Class Radar, Furuno raised the bar on performance for traditional X-Band recreational Radar. Now, we're moving that bar up a couple more notches with two new, high-power X-Class Radar options for NavNet TZtouch and TZtouch2, the DRS12AX and DRS25AX. These two new Radars not only deliver incredibly high performance and useful features, but do so at an extremely competitive price. Scheduled to commence delivery this spring. As with other open array DRS Radars, these new models can be paired with a number of antenna options, ranging in size from 3.5 to 6 feet. Check out the below video on the newly expanded line of X-Class Radars, and download updated brochures for NavNet TZtouch and TZtouch2, which now include product info for these new Radars and the DFF3D Multi-beam Sonar.
In addition to new Sonar and Radar options, NavNet TZtouch2 MFD's will soon provide extensive and valuable data to owners of Yamaha's most popular outboard engines. Furuno is one of the first manufacturers to integrate an MFD with Yamaha Engines, to display gauges and other important information. Furuno collaborated closely with Yamaha to create the interface, while designing the gauges to emulate Yamaha's familiar look and feel. NavNet TZtouch2 interfaces with Yamaha's Helm Master®, Command Link® and Command Link Plus® to bring engine data across the network. This marriage of helm navigation and engine data places all of this critical information at the operator's fingertips, making TZtouch2 a truly turnkey solution for many boats. While this integration will require the purchase of an inexpensive gateway module from Yamaha, the availability of this data on a TZtouch2 MFD will be a no-cost upgrade for customers, as it will be incorporated into an upcoming TZtouch2 software update, coming this spring. While there will be a formal introduction when the software update becomes available, you can get more detailed info on this exciting integration between TZtouch2 and Yamaha engines by reviewing the product brochure.

New 1815 Standalone Color Radar
Delivers Commercial-Grade Features
In A Compact, Competitive Package!
Furuno has a long history of bringing the best in Radar technology to both the commercial and recreational markets, and we're once again set to raise eyebrows and expectations with the introduction of the 1815 Standalone Color LCD Radar. This new, compact Radar incorporates many of the latest innovations generally found in commercial-grade systems, such as Fast Target Tracking (TT), which allows users to easily acquire and track up to 10 targets. Each tracked target's speed and vector info is available in seconds, making quick work of assessing hazards from moving and approaching targets. In addition to TT, the 1815 can display up to 100 AIS targets, when interfaced with a compatible AIS Receiver and applicable sensors. Another useful feature is True Trail mode. With True Trails, moving targets show motion stabilized gradation trails in their wakes, making it possible to quickly assess the target's historical movement.
The 1815 also utilizes Furuno's exclusive "True View" mode to make reading the display even more intuitive. For example, when your vessel is turning, echoes remain visible on the display, so you can constantly view the targets, without waiting for them to update after the turn. This is especially useful when turning to avoid hazardous targets.
Clutter rejection is simply outstanding with the new 1815 Radar, as it automatically eliminates unnecessary echoes to present a clear display image with every sweep of the antenna. The 1815 easily acquires other vessels, buoys and objects in good weather, as well as when sudden fog and storms create poor visibility.

Furuno Leads The Way
To Enhanced Heading Accuracy
With New Satellite Compass Offerings!
In 2001, Furuno introduced ground-breaking new Satellite Compass technology, using GPS satellites to provide a heading fix that rivaled traditional gyrocompass accuracy and repeatability. Since introducing this technology, Furuno satellite compasses have enabled many fleets to eliminate a gyro from their fitting list, saving many thousands of dollars in both equipment cost and wet-sphere gyro maintenance. Continuing our legacy of providing both quality and value, Furuno is very pleased to introduce a new series of Satellite Compasses to replace our revered SC50 and SC110 models.
Furuno's new SC70 (2-antenna) and SC130 (3-antenna) Satellite Compasses offer the stability and reliability of our previous offerings with a few new enhancements. The new SC-series compasses use a color LCD display that fits right in with our overall product family look and feel. In fact, the new SC displays are a cosmetic match with our BR500 BNWAS and FA170 AIS displays, so the vessel dash will look nicely uniform. Even more exciting is our new signal processing, which ensures these compass antennas have greatly reduced susceptibility to multi-path, or "signal bounce", making placement on a vessel mast and installation a breeze. The performance and feature set of the new SC compasses surpass the previous models, with enhanced motion compensation capability and more precise heading, even from the 2-sensor SC70!
Here are some key features and pricing for the SC70 & SC130:
- GPS/WAAS, Galileo and GLONASS position fixing and heading calculation
- Course accuracy 0.25° RMS (SC130), 0.4° RMS (SC70)
- Course and attitude resolution selectable to as fine as 0.001 degrees Rate-of-Turn (ROT) accuracy to .001 degree per second
- Pitch and roll accuracy 0.4° RMS 3
- Axis speed calculation (Bow/Stern/Longitudinal)
- Input/Output:
- NMEA/IEC61162-1/2: 10 Configurable Output & 5 Input Ports
- CAN Bus: 1 port (for connection to NMEA2000 devices)
