Display unit
Standard 110mm square Clipper case. High contrast LCD, backlit for night viewing.
Minimum voltage visual alarm
Simple operation – 4 keys to select backlight, Volt/Amp/State of Charge screen,
AMP hours or Time to run.
How Does It Work?
A simple and intuitive display shows the service battery voltage, charge/discharge current, state of charge, and time to charge/discharge. The instrument also warns the user when the charge level is too low so that load can be shed or charging commenced to protect the battery. A resettable Amp Hour counter is provided for checking the efficiency of the charging system or keeping a track of power consumption and a second input lets the user monitor the voltage of the starter battery. The simple display format does not mean the internal software is unsophisticated. In fact two separate algorithms are used. One based on integrating amp hours over the charge and discharge cycle, the second based on an adaptive internal mathematical battery model.
A unique feature of the BM1+ is its ability to use information from both algorithms, during the charge/discharge cycles, to continually update its performance. This means that, unlike many other systems that rely solely on amp hour integration, the NASA BM1+ never needs to be re-synchronised with the battery. The algorithm includes Peukert's equation to ensure accuracy over a wide range of load currents.
The BM1+ does all this whist consuming a meagre one and a half milliamps. It is a true battery monitor, easy to install and excellent value for money.

EVO-4248SP 4200W 120/240 VAC Split Phase Inverter/Charger with 60 AMP
Split phase pure sine wave inverter, adaptive battery charger, and transfer relay – ALL in ONE device. Samlex EVOLUTION™ Series Inverter/Chargers provide reliable AC power wherever it’s needed.
This 4200 watt, 120V /240V split phase inverter/charger connects to a standard electrical household panel. When you combine it with a 48V battery bank and a solar system you can run a fully equipped off-grid cabin, a remote mobile construction site, or use it as an emergency backup system.
Intelligently integrates a 60 Amp, 4-stage Battery Charger and a 40 Amp Transfer Relay into an advanced and affordable off-grid power solution. For use with Lead Acid or Lithium-ion batteries.
Optional EVO-RC-PLUS remote control for ease of programming and monitoring.
Features:
120 / 240 VAC Split Phase (Dual Phase)
The split-phase inverter connects to the standard household panel to provide both 120 and 240 VAC output power
AC Input
One AC input for grid or for generator, no need to reconfigure when the different power source is available.
AC input is programmable for voltage and frequency. The user determines what the min and max thresholds are to switch from Grid or Generator to Inverter.
Generator start can be initiated by “Status Relay” contact and can be programmed to activate when the grid is lost.
Solar Input
Connect a 48V MPPT solar charge controller directly to the EVOTM through the 100 Amp Battery Charger external DC Input, seamlessly integrating solar charging into the EVO’s power system.
ONLINE Mode can be used to prioritize Batteries/Inverter over the grid, ideal for those wishing to operate primarily on solar power (when the grid is available but costly).
Battery Charger
3 or 4 stages charging with Equalization (must be manually initiated).
An adaptive algorithm is used during Bulk to assess the condition of lead-acid batteries. Subsequent stages are then based on the condition of the battery rather than pre-set time periods for Absorption and Float. Prevents unnecessary charging, and extends the life of batteries.
Programmable – set battery voltage thresholds to initiate charging. Specific programmable settings for Lithium-ion batteries.
Transfer Switch
Zero transfer time when switching from Inverter to Grid. When the grid comes on, the inverter synchronizes with the waveform and then transfers instantly at zero crossing.
<16ms transfer when going from Grid to Inverter. When the grid is lost, the transfer relay switches to the inverter at the correct place in the waveform for no power disruption.
Surge Capacity (Power Boost)
3X surge power for high surge loads on start-up, such as compressor or refrigerator
Additionally, the EVOTM has power overload allowances available for short periods of time. Overload allowances decrease with the length of time. Increased inverter capacity, or “Active Power Boost,” means you can size your inverter smaller to handle heavy surge loads, reducing costs.
State-of-the-Art Technology
The EVOTM operates at 165 million instructions per second producing lightning fast load and response times
The EVOTM is practically indestructible. It has “Bullet-Proof Intelligence” in the form of 9 physical points of protection monitoring being scanned up to 10,000 times per second for adverse conditions. The EVOTM will detect fault conditions and initiate a healthy shutdown before any product damage can be done.
The EVO-RC-PLUS remote control (sold separately) can be used to capture detailed EVOTM performance data. Records all detected faults and the conditions leading up to them. Data is stored on a removable 32GB SD Card (in the remote). Use data to analyze trends for more efficient use of system resources
The EVOTM uses five temperature sensors placed throughout the unit to determine the operation of 2 speed controlled cooling fans. Reduces unnecessary fan noise and energy consumption by only running when and where the fans are needed.

Circuit boards are protected with an acrylic coating for maximum corrosion resistance. Temperature sensors ensure that power components will always operate within specified limits, if needed by automatic reduction of output current under extreme environmental conditions.
Flexible - Next to a CAN bus (NMEA2000) interface, a rotary switch, DIP switches and potentiometers are available to adapt the charge algorithm to a particular battery and its conditions of use. Please refer to the manual for a complete overview of the possibilities.
Synchronized parallel operation - Several chargers can be synchronized with the CAN bus interface. This is achieved by simply interconnecting the chargers with RJ45 UTP cables. Note: Two output and three output chargers cannot be paralleled with each other. Please see the manual for details.
The right amount of charge for a lead-acid battery: variable absorption time - When only shallow discharges occur the absorption time is kept short to prevent overcharging of the battery. After a deep discharge, the absorption time is automatically increased to make sure that the battery is completely recharged.
Preventing damage due to excessive gassing: BatterySafe mode - If to quickly charge a battery, a high charge current in combination with a high absorption voltage has been chosen, the Skylla-i will prevent damage due to excessive gassing by automatically limiting the rate of voltage increase once the gassing voltage has been reached.
Less maintenance and aging when the battery is not in use: Storage mode - The storage mode kicks in whenever the battery has not been subjected to discharge for 24 hours. In the storage mode float voltage is reduced to 2.2V/cell (26.4V for 24V battery) to minimize gassing and corrosion of the positive plates. Once a week the voltage is raised back to the absorption level to ‘refresh’ the battery. This feature prevents stratification of the electrolyte and sulphation, a major cause of early battery failure.
To increase battery life: temperature compensation - Every Skylla-i comes with a battery temperature sensor. When connected, charge voltage will automatically decrease with increasing battery temperature. This feature is especially recommended for sealed lead-acid batteries and/or when important fluctuations in battery temperature are expected.
Battery voltage sense - To compensate for voltage loss due to cable resistance, the Skylla-i is provided with a voltage sense facility so that the battery always receives the correct charge voltage.
Suitable for AC and DC supply (AC-DC and DC-DC operation) - The chargers also accept a DC supply.
Use as a power supply - As a result of the perfectly stabilized output voltage, the Skylla-i can be used as a power supply if batteries or large buffer capacitors are not available.
Li-Ion (LiFePO4) ready - Simple charger on-off control can be implemented by connecting a relay or open collector optocoupler output from a Li-Ion BMS to the remote control port of the charger. Alternatively, complete control of voltage and current can be achieved by connecting to the galvanically isolated CAN bus port.
