GPS Rollover Event Causes FA50 AIS To Stop Transmitting - Software Update Available

Service Advisory #2022-01

The Furuno FA50 AIS has recently experienced GPS rollover along with some other GPS products (See Service Advisory #2021-03). This is a challenge to all manufacturers due to satellite limitations.

While software revision v2.02 has been available to prevent impact to this device, most customers have not updated units in the field. FA50 units with v2.01 and older software have stopped transmitting due to this GPS rollover event. It is recommended that these devices be updated to restore full operations.

Software, software history, and complete software update information can be found under the "software" tab of the FA50 product page. Customers who prefer not to conduct the update themselves, or pay dealers for local service, can send their FA50 to Camas for a free courtesy software update. Only the cost of return shipping will be incurred by the customer.

Warranty Allowance

This software update is provided at no charge to all FA50 customers. Furuno USA's standard warranty and travel allowances are NOT applicable to this upgrade. Dealers wishing to offer this upgrade as a service to their customers are authorized to charge whatever upgrade fee they deem reasonable for labor and materials.
