Yanmar 128695-42010 Fresh Water Circulating Pump
The Yanmar 128695-42010 is the factory fresh water circulating pump for the engines that use it. On a heat exchanger cooled engine there are two pumps, and this is the one that keeps coolant moving through the engine itself.
Fit it with new joint gaskets, refill with the correct coolant mix and bleed the system properly. Air trapped in the block gives exactly the same high temperature reading as a failed pump, which is why so many cooling jobs get done twice.

Q: My engine runs hot but the exhaust stream is strong. Where should I look?
That points at the fresh water side rather than the raw water side - the circulating pump, the thermostat, air trapped in the block or a fouled heat exchanger.
Q: How do I check for bearing wear?
With the drive belt off, rock the pulley by hand. Any perceptible play or roughness as it turns means the bearing has had enough.
Q: Do I need to bleed the system afterwards?
Yes, and properly. Trapped air gives the same high temperature reading as a failed pump and is the most common reason a cooling repair does not appear to have worked.
Q: Should the thermostat be replaced at the same time?
It is worth doing. The system is already drained, the part is inexpensive, and a tired thermostat produces symptoms that look exactly like a failing pump.
