Yamada 682515 Muffler for NDP-20 to NDP-40
The Yamada 682515 is the genuine muffler for NDP-20, NDP-25 and NDP-40 Series pumps. The pump exhausts its spent air on every stroke, and this is the part that handles that exhaust - taking the sharp edge off the noise without choking the flow the pump needs to breathe.
What clogs it tells you something. Oil and dirt mean the air supply needs filtering; pumped product in the exhaust means a diaphragm has split and the air motor has been passing product for a while, in which case the muffler is the least of the problems and the pump needs opening up.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I run the pump without a muffler?
It will run, and it will be extremely loud. It also leaves the exhaust port open to whatever is in the surrounding air, which then gets drawn back into the motor.
Q: Why does the pump slow down in cold weather?
Expanding exhaust air cools sharply and can ice up the exhaust. A pump that recovers after standing is usually icing rather than failing.
Q: Can the exhaust be piped away?
Yes, and it is common practice where fumes or noise matter. Keep the pipe generously sized and as short as practical, because a long or narrow run creates the same back pressure as a blocked element.
Q: Can a blocked muffler really reduce flow?
Yes, and noticeably. Exhaust back pressure works against the air motor on every stroke, so the pump runs slower and uses more air for less output.
