Q: Can the mesh be replaced separately?
The screen is removable for cleaning. Replace the assembly if the mesh is torn, since a torn screen passes exactly the debris it was fitted to stop.

Q: How often should the screen be cleaned?
As often as the duty demands - weekly on dirty service, far less on clean product. A pump that has slowed down with a clear discharge side is usually asking for the strainer to be cleaned.

Q: Can a strainer cause problems of its own?
Yes, if it is allowed to block. A restricted suction makes the pump cavitate, and cavitation damages diaphragms and valve parts quickly.

Q: Does the strainer reduce flow?
A clean screen has very little effect if the suction line is properly sized. Problems appear when it is fitted to a line that was already too small or too long.
