Yamada 02-1152 Center Disk for NDP-25
The Yamada 02-1152 is the genuine center disk for NDP-25 Series pumps. The diaphragm is clamped between a pair of disks on the center rod, and these disks are what transfer the push and pull of the rod into the diaphragm without tearing it.
The edge of the disk is the critical surface. Every stroke bends the diaphragm at exactly the line where the disk stops supporting it, so a burr, a lifted edge or corrosion pitting on that rim is stamped into the new diaphragm as a stress raiser and starts a crack there. Look at the rim with a fingernail rather than only with your eyes. Yamada lists this center disk under part number 772620 in the NDP-25 parts listing, and CLR Marine stocks it under 02-1152.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do the disks need replacing every time the diaphragm is changed?
Not always, but they should be inspected every time. Replace any disk with a burr, a lifted edge, corrosion pitting or a visible cup, because all of those shorten the life of the new diaphragm.
Q: What is the difference between the air side and liquid side disks?
They sit on opposite faces of the diaphragm. The liquid side disk is exposed to the pumped product and is made to suit it; the air side disk sees only compressed air. They are not interchangeable.
Q: How tight should the assembly be?
To the factory torque, no more. Overtightening pinches the diaphragm bead and starts a tear at the clamp line, which is one of the most common causes of a short diaphragm life.
Q: Can I clean up a rough rim rather than replace the disk?
Light polishing of a metal disk is acceptable if it leaves a smooth radius. Anything that leaves a sharp edge or removes the radius does more harm than the original burr.
