Q: How long does a wet end kit normally last?
On clean liquid with a flooded suction, years. Abrasive solids, frequent dry starts and cavitation all cut that sharply, and in those conditions many operators keep a kit on the shelf rather than waiting for the failure.
Q: Will the rebuilt pump match its original performance curve?
It should, provided the suction conditions and the impeller diameter are the same as when it was new. The kit returns the internal clearances to factory dimensions, which is what the published curve assumes.
Q: Is the motor included?
No. A wet end kit covers the liquid handling parts only. That is the point of it - the motor on a close coupled pump usually has far more life left than the parts in front of it, so the kit renews only what is worn.
Q: Can the kit be fitted without removing the pump from the pipework?
On most close coupled designs the casing stays bolted to the pipework while the motor and adapter come away as a unit, which makes it a back pull-out job. Support the motor properly before releasing the last fasteners.
