Tuthill CCI102017 Close Coupled Gear Pump End 20 GPM NEMA 56C
The Tuthill CCI102017 is a cast iron close coupled rotary gear pump end rated at a nominal 20 GPM through 1-1/2 inch NPT inlet and discharge ports, built to bolt directly onto a NEMA 56C face motor. It is supplied as a pump end only, with no motor, and carries a Viton mechanical shaft seal. The CC Series uses the same internal gear principle as the rest of the Tuthill gear pump range, with a rotor and an idler gear working against a crescent shaped partition cast into the cover, so there are only two moving parts in the wet end.
Close coupled pumps sit at the top of the CC Series pressure band with a maximum discharge pressure of 125 PSI and a maximum differential of 100 PSI, and the series as a whole spans 3 to 84 GPM on ports from 1 inch through 2 inch. Because the CC Series bolts straight to a C face motor there is no base plate, coupling or alignment to set, which removes the most common cause of premature seal and bearing wear on a small gear pump package. Over pressure protection is available as a bolt on relief valve assembly in three spring ranges covering 0 to 110 PSI, 110 to 175 PSI and 175 to 250 PSI, sealed to the pump by its own gasket. This pump is intended for fluids with lubricity and must not be used on plain water, corrosive liquids or abrasive slurries, and it must never be run dry.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can it be driven in either direction?
Treat rotation as fixed. Check the arrow or the port arrangement on your pump before wiring the motor, because running a gear pump backwards reverses suction and discharge.
Q: What happens if it runs dry?
The mechanical seal faces are lubricated by the pumped fluid. A dry run will craze the faces and the pump will leak from the seal as soon as it is refilled.
Q: Does this come with the motor?
No. It is the pump end only. It is machined to register on a NEMA 56C face motor, which is ordered separately.
Q: Is a relief valve fitted?
Not as supplied. The CC Series relief valve is a separate bolt on assembly, published in 0 to 110 PSI, 110 to 175 PSI and 175 to 250 PSI spring ranges, and it needs its own gasket.
