The Tuthill CC09I656 is a genuine relief valve gasket for Tuthill CC09 Series relief valve assemblies. A gasket on a gear pump is not just a joint seal. This gasket seals the relief valve assembly to the pump. Q: Should I mark the cover before removing it?
Yes. The service instructions call for it. A cover refitted a quarter turn out can change how the pump sits against its piping and its mount.
Q: Can I cut my own gasket from sheet?
It is a false economy. Thickness tolerance is what sets the clearance, and hand cut sheet is rarely within the few thousandths of an inch that matters here.
Q: Do I need sealant as well?
