Tuthill 6C1B-24 Rotor for 6C Series Cast Iron Gear Pumps
The Tuthill 6C1B-24 is a genuine rotor for Tuthill 6C1B size 6 cast iron gear pumps. The rotor is the driven element of an internal gear pump: it carries the internal teeth that mesh with the idler gear either side of the crescent partition, and everything the pump does in terms of flow and pressure depends on how closely it still fits its housing. Wear here is gradual and shows up as falling flow long before it shows up as noise.
The size 6 is the largest of the C Series frames and carries the 2 inch porting, so its rotor is not interchangeable with the size 2, 3, 4 or 5 parts even though the numbering pattern looks similar. Confirm the size digit at the front of your pump model before ordering. Handle the new rotor carefully on assembly. A burr raised on an end face during fitting will score the cover on the first run and undo the clearance that has just been set.
Key Features

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does the shaft come with it?
Check the parts list for your build. Some listings cover the rotor alone and others cover a rotor and shaft assembly.
Q: How do I know the rotor is worn rather than something else?
Look for a polished or stepped band on the end faces and measurable clearance at the teeth. If capacity is still low after the gasket stack has been taken up, the rotor is the usual cause.
Q: Are rotors interchangeable between pump sizes?
No. The size digit at the front of the model number sets the rotor, and a rotor from a neighboring size will not fit.
Q: Should I fit a new idler gear as well?
If the idler shows the same wear pattern, yes. The two run against each other and a new rotor against a worn idler will not restore the pump.
Not sure this is the right part? Send us a Picture of the Pump Plate on your pump and the CLR Marine team will confirm the correct rotor.
