The Roper 3611HBFRV is a 3600 Series heavy duty gear pump built with flanged ports, an outboard ball bearing and an integral relief valve. Size 11 gives 0.11 gallons per revolution and up to 84.8 gallons per minute at the 750 revolutions per minute maximum, at differential pressures to 125 pounds per square inch, through 2 inch flanged connections. It is supplied standard with graphite packing and bronze bushings.
The F in the configuration code is the one detail that changes the installation rather than the performance. A tapped case takes the pipe directly into threads in the casting, while a flanged case presents a machined face and a bolt pattern. Flanges cost more to pipe up but they pay for themselves on a pump that has to come out for service: the pipework is broken at a gasketed joint rather than unscrewed, nothing has to be rotated to free it, and the casting is never at risk of being cracked by a pipe wrench. Q: What is the practical difference between flanged and tapped ports?
How the pump comes out. A flanged pump is unbolted at a gasketed face, while a tapped pump has to be unscrewed from the line, which is slow and hard on the casting.
Q: Will pipe strain hurt the pump?
Yes, and flanges make it easy to apply without noticing. Support the pipework independently so the pump is not holding it up, or the casing distorts and the seal and bearings pay for it.
Q: Which gaskets should the flanges take?
Match the gasket to the product temperature. Roper offers aluminum and Teflon internal gaskets for hot service for the same reason, since fiber has a much lower ceiling.
Q: Can this be assembled high drive or low drive?
