Q: Why is this pump limited to a lower speed than the small A Series sizes?
Gear size is the reason. Larger gears carry more mass and present more area to pressure, so Roper rates the 06 and larger sizes for slower running and lower pressure than the small frames.
Q: Does the flange mounting fit any motor?
It is designed around a standard C-face motor. Check the frame size and shaft dimensions against your motor before ordering, since the flange bolt circle and the shaft fit both have to match.
Q: How much suction lift will it manage?
It is self priming once the pump is wetted, but a long or high lift on a cold liquid asks a great deal of any gear pump. Keep the suction line short, full bore and airtight for best results.
Q: What is the first thing to check if flow drops off?
The suction side, almost always. A blocked strainer, an air leak at a fitting or a partly closed valve will cut delivery well before worn gears do.
