Robbins & Myers 320-4486-003 Rotor and Shaft Pin for Moyno 600 and 400 Series
This rotor and shaft pin secures the flexible joint at the rotor and drive shaft end of the drive train in the Moyno 500 600 Series pumps and the 41502 and 43302 grinder pumps. Small as it is, it is a structural component: nothing else transmits drive across that joint, and a loose or worn pin lets the whole connection move.
Because a pin is cheap, buried and awkward to reach, it is one of the parts most worth renewing whenever the joint is out. Fitting a new joint around an old pin leaves the play exactly where it was. Check both the pin and the holes: if the holes have gone oval, the mating component needs attention too, since a new pin in a worn hole will not stay tight. Three are used on a 600 Series pump; the 400 Series grinder pumps use a single rotor pin of the same part number.

Q: Is there a right way round to fit it?
A plain pin can go either way, but it should sit flush and centered so the load is shared across both shear planes. A pin sitting proud on one side is carrying more than its share.
Q: Should it be replaced on a routine service?
On any service that gets as far as the joint, yes. The part is inexpensive and the labor to reach it has already been spent, so leaving an old pin in place is a false economy.
Q: Can a standard dowel or roll pin be substituted?
It is not worth the risk. These pins are hardened and sized for a specific fit in double shear, and a general purpose pin that looks identical can shear under load and take the joint with it.
Q: How many are used in a pump?
