Proven Pump SRK-42AP Service Kit for B-1000, Threaded Shaft
The Proven Pump SRK-42AP is the genuine service kit for B-1000 pumps built with a threaded impeller shaft. It brings the wear parts of the pump head together under one part number so the pump can be serviced in one go rather than ordered piece by piece.
The shaft arrangement is the thing to confirm before ordering. These pumps were built with more than one shaft type, and parts cut for a threaded shaft will not seat properly on a plain or keyed one - at best the cover will not close, at worst the impeller runs loose and damages its own bore and the shaft with it. Take the cover off and look at the end of the shaft first. If it carries a thread or a nut rather than a plain parallel section, this is the kit for it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I check which shaft my pump has?
Remove the cover plate and look at the end of the shaft the impeller sits on. A threaded shaft carries a thread or a retaining nut; the alternative is a plain parallel shaft with a key or a flat.
Q: What happens if the shaft type is wrong?
The impeller will not seat and locate as it should. If it is forced together it can run loose, which wears the impeller bore oval and can damage the shaft too.
Q: Can I fit the kit without removing the pump from its mounting?
Usually yes, provided you can reach the cover plate and get the hoses off. The work is all at the front of the pump head.
Q: What else should I look at while the head is open?
The cam face and the shaft. A grooved cam stops a new impeller sealing, and a scored shaft will cut a seal quickly, so both are worth checking before the pump goes back together.
