Q: Why does the kit include a gasket?
Because the gasket thickness sets how close the cover sits to the impeller. Reusing a crushed gasket with a new impeller gives the wrong running clearance and the pump either drags or fails to prime.
Q: What does the high and low temperature rating actually buy me?
A compound that stays flexible across a wider range. A standard impeller stiffens when cold and goes soft when hot, and in both cases it stops sealing properly against the cam.
Q: Is one impeller enough, or should I get the two impeller kit?
One is enough for a single service. The two impeller kit is the better buy if you want a spare on board or you are servicing more than one pump.
Q: How should the vanes be facing?
They trail in the direction the pump turns, so they bend the way they will bend in use. Working them the wrong way round sets the rubber against itself from the first revolution.
