Proven Pump SRK-363 Motor Brush Kit for 360 and 365 Series
The Proven Pump SRK-363 is the genuine motor brush kit for the 360 and 365 Series utility transfer pumps, covering both the 115V and the 12V models. The brushes are the carbon blocks that carry current onto the spinning commutator, and they are designed to wear so that the commutator does not.
Worn brushes announce themselves. The motor becomes hard to start, it runs slower than it used to, it sparks visibly at the commutator, and eventually it simply hums or does nothing at all while the pump body stays cold. People usually assume the motor has died; more often than not it is a pair of brushes that have worn down to their springs. Fitting new ones takes minutes and costs a fraction of a new pump. Check the commutator at the same time - if it is scored or badly blackened, clean it up before the new brushes bed onto a rough surface.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: My pump hums but will not turn. Is that the brushes?
It is the first thing to check. Worn brushes lose contact with the commutator, so the motor is energized but cannot develop torque, and the pump sits there humming.
Q: How worn is too worn?
Compare the old brush against the new one. Once a brush is down near its spring, or the face is chipped and no longer bears evenly on the commutator, it has done its job.
Q: Should I clean the commutator when I fit new brushes?
Yes. Wipe it clean and dress out light scoring so the new brushes bed onto a smooth surface. Fitting new brushes to a rough commutator just wears them out quickly.
Q: Does the pump need to be dismantled to reach them?
The brushes are serviced from the motor end without opening the pump head, so the wet side of the pump stays sealed while you do it.
