Proven Pump 3360120 Pump Head Gasket
The Proven Pump 3360120 is the genuine pump head gasket for the 360 and 365 Series utility transfer pumps. It seals the cover plate against the pump body, and it also sets the running clearance the impeller has against that cover.
That second job is the one people miss. A gasket is not just a seal here: its thickness is what holds the cover the correct distance off the impeller. Reuse a gasket that has been crushed and the cover sits closer than it should, so the impeller drags and the pump runs hot and slow. Leave it out entirely and the pump loses prime and will not lift. Fit a new one every time the cover comes off, clean both faces properly, and tighten the cover screws evenly rather than one at a time.

Q: Can I reuse the gasket if it came off intact?
It is a false economy. A crushed gasket no longer holds the cover at the right height, so the impeller either drags on the cover or runs with too much clearance and will not prime.
Q: Should I use sealant with it?
No. The gasket is designed to seal dry, and sealant adds thickness that changes the impeller clearance in a way you cannot measure.
Q: The pump primes badly after a rebuild. Could this be why?
Yes, and it is one of the most common causes. Too much clearance at the cover lets liquid slip back past the impeller instead of being carried round to the outlet.
Q: How tight should the cover screws be?
Snug and even, working across the cover rather than round it. Overtightening distorts the cover and creates the leak you were trying to prevent.
