Price Pump CD100BF Close Coupled Centrifugal Pump Head, 1" x 1-1/4" x 5" Cast Iron/Bronze, 56C Mount

The Price Pump CD100BF is the pump head portion of the company's Model CD close-coupled centrifugal line, supplied as a bare end that bolts straight onto a standard NEMA 56C C-face motor. It uses a 1" NPT discharge, a 1-1/4" NPT suction, and a 5" enclosed impeller — the arrangement most shops reach for when they need real flow out of a compact footprint without the alignment fuss of a base-mounted, coupled unit. Because there is no motor in the box, you can pair it with whatever horsepower, voltage, and enclosure your application already runs, or use it as a drop-in replacement for a worn head on an existing CD100 assembly.

The "BF" in the model number means bronze-fitted: a cast iron casing with a bronze impeller. That pairing sits in a practical middle ground. Cast iron gives you the strength and cost advantage for the pressure-containing parts, while the bronze impeller handles the wear and mild corrosion of fresh water, brackish water, condensate, and a broad range of light chemical and process fluids better than iron would on its own. A mechanical shaft seal handles the sealing duty, and seal face and elastomer options can be specified to suit the fluid you are actually pumping rather than a generic default.

In service, the CD100BF turns up everywhere fluid needs to move steadily and reliably — industrial washdown and parts-washer systems, cooling tower and closed-loop circulation, plating and chemical transfer, deionized water loops, wastewater and process water handling, irrigation and booster duty, agricultural and food-plant utility service, and OEM equipment skids. It also serves marine and dockside applications, but this is a general-purpose industrial pump first, and most of the units in the field are working in plants, shops, and utility rooms well away from any water.

Key Features

  • Close-coupled centrifugal design that mounts directly to a NEMA 56C C-face motor, eliminating coupling alignment and a separate baseplate
  • Bronze-fitted construction: cast iron casing with a bronze impeller for balanced corrosion resistance, strength, and value
  • 5" enclosed impeller for strong head and flow performance in a compact envelope
  • Supplied as a bare pump head, so the buyer selects motor horsepower, voltage, phase, and enclosure
  • Mechanical shaft seal with optional face and elastomer materials to match the pumped fluid
  • Back pull-out style service access for seal and impeller maintenance without disturbing system piping
  • Direct replacement head for existing Price Pump CD100 series assemblies
  • Threaded NPT connections for straightforward installation into standard piping

Applications

  • Industrial washdown and parts-washer systems
  • Cooling tower and closed-loop circulation
  • Chemical and plating solution transfer
  • Deionized and process water handling

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does the CD100BF include a motor?

No. The CD100BF is the pump head only. It is designed to bolt onto a separately purchased NEMA 56C C-face motor, which lets you choose the horsepower, voltage, phase, and enclosure that suit your installation.

Q: What does the "BF" in CD100BF actually mean?

BF designates bronze-fitted construction. The casing and pressure-containing parts are cast iron while the impeller is bronze, giving better resistance to wear and mild corrosion than an all-iron build without the cost of an all-bronze pump.

Q: What do the numbers 1 x 1-1/4 x 5 refer to?

They describe the hydraulic sizing: a 1" discharge port, a 1-1/4" suction port, and a 5" impeller. Suction is intentionally larger than discharge on end-suction centrifugal pumps to reduce inlet velocity and help avoid cavitation.

Q: Can this pump head replace a worn head on an existing CD100 unit?

Yes. As long as the existing assembly uses a NEMA 56C motor and the same port configuration, the CD100BF installs as a direct replacement head, letting you reuse the motor already in service.

Q: Is this pump suitable for anything other than clean water?

It handles a wide range of fluids including process water, condensate, mild chemicals, plating solutions, and light slurries with solids up to roughly 0.15". For aggressive chemicals or elevated temperatures, specify the appropriate mechanical seal faces and elastomers rather than the standard configuration.
