Pulsafeeder L3101HC1-FPP Suction Valve Assembly
The Pulsafeeder L3101HC1-FPP is a genuine Pulsatron suction valve assembly for pumps with the PHC1 wet end: a GFPPL body with CSPE seat and O-ring and ceramic check ball, and a 3/8 in OD tubing connection. It threads into the bottom of the pump head, where it opens on the suction stroke to draw chemical in and closes on the discharge stroke so the chemical can only go one way.
A check valve that is not seating cleanly is the most common reason a solenoid metering pump loses output or will not hold prime. Crystals from the chemical, grit past a damaged strainer, or a swollen O-ring are the usual causes, and the fix is a new cartridge rather than cleaning an old one. The PHC1 code is the second half of the pump model number, so check the label before ordering. The same cartridge is part of the K2PHC1, K3PHC1 and K4PHC1.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why is my pump still losing prime with new valves?
Look for an air leak at the suction tubing connection, a blocked foot valve strainer, or gas building in the head. Bleeding the head after startup clears trapped air.
Q: Which way up does it go?
The flow arrow on the cartridge must point in the direction of flow, which is upward through the head. A cartridge fitted upside down will stop the pump from priming at all.
Q: How tight should it be?
Hand tight plus a small amount with a wrench. The O-ring does the sealing, and overtightening a plastic body can crack it or distort the seat.
Q: Should I replace both valves at once?
It is good practice. Suction and discharge valves see the same chemical and the same number of cycles, so they usually wear together.
