Pulsafeeder K3KTCJ Size 3 KOPkit
The Pulsafeeder K3KTCJ is a genuine Pulsatron KOPkit (Keep On Pumping kit) for size 3 Pulsatron solenoid diaphragm metering pumps with the KTCJ wet end code. It rebuilds the complete liquid end in one go: a new PVDF pump head, PTFE-faced diaphragm, suction and discharge valve cartridges with PTFE seats and O-rings and ceramic check valve balls, diaphragm shims, head screws and washers, and a bleed valve O-ring, with an exploded view drawing to follow. The parts are sealed in the bag so a kit kept on the shelf stays clean until it is needed. PVDF is the choice for aggressive and corrosive chemicals such as acids used for pH control, where polypropylene would soften or craze over time. PTFE seats and O-rings are close to universally chemical resistant, which is why they are specified for acids, solvents and mixed chemical programs. The kit connections suit 3/8 in OD tubing (J style head connection).
The kit number is printed on the pump data label, and it can also be worked out from the pump model number: take the letter K, then the fourth character of the model number (the head size), then the four characters of the wet end code. Size 3 pumps include models such as LB03, LBC3, LC03, LPA3, LPB3, LPD3, LPK3, LMA3, LMB3 and LMD3, but the wet end code has to match as well, because it sets the materials and the tubing connection. Rebuilding with a full kit rather than a single valve cartridge is the right call once a pump has started losing prime, delivering less than its setting or weeping at the head, since the diaphragm and both check valves wear together.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What should the stroke length be set to during the rebuild?
Set the stroke length to 50 percent and unplug the pump before removing the diaphragm. That positions the shaft correctly for the new diaphragm to be threaded on.
Q: Can I change head material with a different kit?
Only by moving to a kit with a different wet end code, and the pump model label will then no longer match the liquid end. Check chemical compatibility before changing materials.
Q: Should the injection valve and foot valve be serviced at the same time?
They are not in this kit, but it is a good time to inspect both. A worn injection valve or clogged foot valve strainer can mimic a failed liquid end.
Q: Why is the pump losing prime after a rebuild?
Usually air in the suction line or a valve cartridge fitted upside down. The cartridges are directional, so check the flow arrows before tightening, then use the bleed valve to purge the head.
