Onan 132-0251 Water Pump
The Onan 132-0251 Water Pump is the complete raw water pump, supplied ready to bolt on rather than as a set of service parts. It draws sea water through the strainer, pushes it through the heat exchanger and out with the exhaust, and it is the only thing standing between the set and an overheat shutdown.
Replace the whole pump rather than rebuilding it when the housing bore is scored or pitted through, when the shaft has been running with a leaking seal for a long time, or when the mounting flange or cover faces have corroded. A rebuild only works if the castings are still sound. This pump is fitted on MDJC and MDJF 15 kW generator sets. It supersedes water pump 132-0115 and is listed for MDJC as well as MDJF sets.

Most often a shaft seal leak that reached the bearings, or dry running that cooked the impeller and scored the bore.

A sound old body is worth keeping as a rebuildable spare, provided the castings are not pitted through.

If the castings and bores are sound, a rebuild is good value. If the body is pitted through or the bore is scored, fit a complete pump.
