Q: Do I need a press to fit this?
No. The bearings are already on the shaft, which is the point of buying the assembly rather than separate parts.
Q: What else should I replace at the same time?
The shaft seal and the slinger at minimum, plus the cover gasket, since the pump has to come apart anyway.
Q: How do I know the bearings have failed?
Turn the pump by hand off the belt. Roughness, notchiness or a rumble, or any felt play at the impeller hub, means replace the group.
Q: Can I just replace the bearings on my old shaft?
