Oberdorfer 930 Pump Head – Without Impeller And Volute
The Oberdorfer 930 is the pump body with 3" porting. It contains the pumping chamber, carries the ports, and sets the bore that every running clearance in the pump is measured from.
On seawater duty, check the wall thickness around the ports and the underside of the chamber. Galvanic and erosion damage tends to concentrate where flow changes direction.
Support the pump properly on reassembly so that pipework does not load the casting. Strain through the ports cracks bodies.

Q: How do I know the body is worn rather than the internals?
Fit new internals and measure the clearance. If a fresh set still leaves the pump slipping under pressure, the bore is the problem.
Q: Does the body come with any internal parts?
Treat it as a bare casting unless the listing states otherwise, and plan on new seals and soft parts alongside it.
Q: Can a damaged port thread be repaired instead?
Sometimes, with an insert. Whether that is sensible depends on how much metal is left around the port.
Q: Will pipework strain affect it?
Yes. Unsupported pipe hanging off the ports is a common cause of cracked castings and of leaks that return after every repair.
