Oberdorfer 7462 Motor – OEM Pump Replacement Part
The 7462 is the factory drive component for its position in the Oberdorfer range. Oberdorfer centrifugal pumps are commonly close coupled to a flanged motor, which removes field alignment from the installation.
Speed sets performance. Oberdorfer centrifugal pumps in this class are commonly driven at 1725 or 3450 RPM, and changing that speed changes flow, head and the load on the driver together.

Q: Can I fit any motor of the same horsepower?
No. Frame size, shaft dimensions and mounting have to match, and horsepower on its own tells you none of those.
Q: How do I confirm rotation?
Check the direction marking on the pump and bump the drive briefly before the system is pressurised.
Q: Does enclosure type matter below decks?
It does. A damp machinery space is a different environment from a dry plant room, and the enclosure rating should reflect that.
Q: Should the coupling be renewed at the same time?
Inspect it. A coupling that has run against a failing drive component has usually taken some of the damage.
