Oberdorfer 2389 Ring – OEM Pump Replacement Part
Small parts stop pumps. The Oberdorfer 2389, is the factory component for its position, dimensioned and specified so it does the job the design expects of it.
Material grade matters more here than size does. A plated steel substitute in a bronze pump on seawater duty will corrode, seize and then shear, and removing the remains is far more work than fitting the right part would have been.
Use an anti-seize compound suited to the metals involved where stainless runs in bronze, and avoid overtightening.
