March 2CP-MD Magnetic Drive Pump 230V

The March 2CP-MD is a sealless magnetic drive centrifugal pump built with polypropylene wet end with a sealed motor. The motor turns a drive magnet behind the rear housing, that magnet pulls the impeller magnet sealed inside the wet end, and the result is a pump with no shaft seal, no packing and no coupling alignment to maintain. For anything corrosive, expensive or simply unwelcome on the floor, that is the whole argument for a magnetic drive.

Like every March magnetic drive pump the 2CP-MD is not self priming and needs a flooded suction, and it must not be run dry, because the liquid being pumped is the only lubricant between the impeller bushing and its shaft. Motor rotation should be clockwise looking into the inlet. Within those rules it will run continuously for years, and when it does need attention the impeller, the shaft and the thrust washers are the only parts that wear.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can it run on 50 Hz?
These motors are rated for 50 and 60 Hz where the nameplate says so, but flow, head and speed are all lower on 50 Hz.

Q: Will it prime itself?
No. March magnetic drive pumps need a flooded suction and produce no suction lift, so the pump has to sit below the liquid level unless a self priming chamber is fitted.

Q: What happens if it runs dry?
The impeller bushing and shaft lose their only lubricant and wear very quickly. A few seconds is survivable, a few minutes usually is not.

Q: Which way should the motor turn?
Clockwise when you are looking into the inlet of the pump.
