Lovejoy SW095 Snap-Wrap Jaw Coupling Spider
This is the Lovejoy SW095 spider, the radially removable snap-wrap elastomer insert for an SW-Series jaw coupling built around a pair of L095 hubs. Unlike the standard L-Series spider, which requires the two hubs to be drawn back along the shafts for replacement, the SW spider snaps in and out from the side with its retaining ring in place, so the coupling can be serviced without moving either piece of connected equipment.
A snap-wrap spider wears the same way a standard spider does, from heat, age, and normal flexing under load, but it is built to be checked and changed quickly since the hubs never need to move. Inspect it at the same interval as any other coupling spider and replace it at the first sign of cracking, rather than running it to complete failure, to avoid metal-to-metal jaw contact damaging the hubs.
