Q: Can I reuse the old end cover gasket?
It is not recommended. Once compressed, a gasket rarely seals as well the second time, and a small air leak can stop the pump from priming.
Q: Should I use sealant on the gasket?
No. A clean, dry gasket on clean mating surfaces is correct. Sealant can squeeze into the pump chamber and interfere with the impeller.
Q: How tight should the cover screws be?
Snug them evenly in a crisscross pattern. Overtightening can crush the gasket or distort a thin cover plate.
