Jabsco 18789-0001 Neoprene Impeller
The Jabsco 18789-0001 is a genuine Jabsco neoprene flexible impeller with 9 blades, a 4-5/8 in diameter and a 3-1/2 in width on a 1 in brass spline drive hub. It replaces the earlier 17240-0001 impeller. It is listed for the Jabsco 18770-0003 bronze engine cooling pump.
Impellers are wear parts. Replace one when the blades are cracked, torn or have taken a permanent set, when the pump is slow to prime, or after it has run dry even briefly. Lubricate a new flexible impeller with a little water pump grease before fitting it, and fit a new cover gasket or O-ring at the same time.
