The Jabsco 18753-0272 is a genuine Jabsco retaining ring that locates the shaft bearings. It is listed for Jabsco 30540 and 30580 series industrial flexible impeller pumps.
Retaining rings snap into a machined groove to locate a bearing, shaft or seal and stop it moving along its axis. A ring that has been sprung open, distorted or corroded will not hold properly, so fit a new one whenever the pump is rebuilt. Use the correct ring pliers, and check the ring is fully seated in its groove all the way round before reassembly.
