The Jabsco 18717-0000 is a genuine Jabsco retaining ring — the spring-steel circlip that locks the ball bearing into the pump assembly. It is a small, cheap part that does a job nothing else in the pump can do: it stops the bearing, and therefore the whole rotating assembly, from walking out of position under load.
Get this wrong and the consequences are quick.
