Jabsco 18673-0001-24 Neoprene Impellers, Carton of 24, 10 Blade
The Jabsco 18673-0001-24 is a genuine Jabsco bulk carton of flexible impellers with a neoprene impeller, supplied as a carton of 24 impeller kits. It has 10 blades, a 2 in diameter and a 7/8 in width, with a 1/2 in slotted shaft, pin drive with drive screw. As it turns inside the offset pump body, the blades bend and straighten, drawing liquid in and pushing it out, which is what makes a flexible impeller pump self-priming. It is listed for Jabsco 2620 series bronze pedestal pumps and the 9900-0001 pump. The impeller itself is Jabsco 18673-0001.
Neoprene is the general purpose compound for water, raw water cooling and mildly abrasive liquids. Impellers are wear parts. Replace one when blades are cracked, torn or have taken a permanent set in the curved position, when the pump is slow to prime, or after it has run dry even briefly. Lubricate the new impeller with a little water pump grease before fitting it, and fit a new end cover gasket or O-ring at the same time. The carton of 24 suits fleets, service shops and anyone maintaining several pumps of the same model.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why is my new impeller hard to fit?
The blades need to fold the right way. A little grease on the blades and turning the shaft in the running direction as you push helps.
Q: Which way should the blades bend?
They bend back against the direction of rotation as the impeller is pushed into the body. Turning the shaft in the running direction while pushing makes this easy.
Q: How long does an impeller last?
It depends on hours, temperature and what is being pumped. Many owners replace it every season or at a set number of running hours as insurance.
Q: What causes blades to break off?
Running dry is the main cause. Broken pieces can travel downstream and block coolers or strainers, so find every piece.
