Jabsco 17830-0012 Reversible Oil Change Pump, 12V
The Jabsco 17830-0012 is the Jabsco 12 volt reversible oil change pump, a bronze flexible impeller pump with a nitrile impeller, nitrile lip seal and 3/8 in NPT ports, close coupled to a 12 VDC reversible permanent magnet motor with an integral reversing switch. It is installed near the engine and plumbed to the oil pan, so it can pull the old oil out and then be reversed to pump fresh oil back in.
Changing oil through the dipstick tube or a permanently plumbed drain line keeps used oil off the engine and out of the bilge, which is why oil change pumps are standard equipment on many boats. Warm the engine first so the oil flows freely, keep the suction end at the bottom of the sump, and never let a flexible impeller pump run dry for more than a few seconds.
