Jabsco 17273-0004B FKM Impeller, 10 Blade
The Jabsco 17273-0004B is a genuine Jabsco flexible impeller with a FKM impeller. It has 10 blades, a 2 in diameter and a 7/8 in width, with a 5/16 in single flat shaft, epoxy plastic hub. As it turns inside the offset pump body, the blades bend and straighten, drawing liquid in and pushing it out, which is what makes a flexible impeller pump self-priming. FKM fluoroelastomer is chosen for hydrocarbons, solvents and many aggressive chemicals, and for higher liquid temperatures, although it primes less strongly than neoprene or nitrile. Impellers are wear parts. Replace one when blades are cracked, torn or have taken a permanent set in the curved position, when the pump is slow to prime, or after it has run dry even briefly. Lubricate the new impeller with a little water pump grease before fitting it, and fit a new end cover gasket or O-ring at the same time.
