The Jabsco 14609-0003 is a genuine Jabsco flexible impeller in nitrile. It has 6 blades, a 1-1/4 in diameter and a 15/32 in width, with a 5/16 in single flat shaft, brass insert. As it turns inside the offset pump body, the blades bend and straighten, drawing liquid in and pushing it out, which is what makes a flexible impeller pump self-priming. Nitrile is the compound to choose where oils, fuels or other petroleum products are present, since it resists swelling where neoprene would soften. Impellers are wear parts.
