Jabsco 14346-0004 FKM Impeller Kit, 12 Blade
The Jabsco 14346-0004 is a genuine Jabsco flexible impeller kit with an FKM impeller. It has 12 blades, a 3-3/4 in diameter and a 2-1/2 in width, with a 1 in double flat shaft, epoxy plastic hub. As it turns inside the offset pump body, the blades bend and straighten, drawing liquid in and pushing it out, which is what makes a flexible impeller pump self-priming. It is listed for Jabsco 30530 and 30570 series stainless steel pumps and 28440 series pump heads.
FKM fluoroelastomer is chosen for hydrocarbons, solvents and many aggressive chemicals, and for higher liquid temperatures, although it primes less strongly than neoprene or nitrile. Impellers are wear parts. Replace one when blades are cracked, torn or have taken a permanent set in the curved position, when the pump is slow to prime, or after it has run dry even briefly. Lubricate the new impeller with a little water pump grease before fitting it, and fit a new end cover gasket or O-ring at the same time.
