Q: Why is my pump losing prime after an impeller change?
An old or pinched gasket is a common cause. Air drawn in at the end cover stops the pump from pulling a vacuum on the suction side.
Q: Can I cut a gasket from sheet material?
Only as a temporary repair. The factory gasket thickness is part of the impeller end clearance, and the wrong thickness costs output or wears the impeller.
Q: How many should I keep on board?
At least one per pump, and more if you change impellers yourself. It is the part most likely to be needed whenever the pump is opened.
Q: Can I reuse the old gasket?
