Jabsco 12520-1273 Bronze Self-Priming Pump, 1/4 HP 115V, Nitrile Impeller
The Jabsco 12520-1273 is a bronze self-priming pump and motor unit close coupled to a 1/4 HP, 1725 RPM, 115 VAC motor with an 8 ft cord and three prong plug. The pump end is bronze with a nitrile flexible impeller and a nitrile lip type shaft seal, with 3/8 in NPT internal and 3/4 in garden hose external ports.
It has a nominal flow of about 6 GPM and a vertical dry suction lift of about 6 ft with the nitrile impeller, provided the suction line is airtight. The nitrile impeller is the choice for oils, fuels and other petroleum products. Like every flexible impeller pump it must not run dry and should be drained before freezing weather.

Q: How long can it run dry?
Only seconds. The flexible impeller depends on the liquid for lubrication, and dry running damages it quickly.
Q: Which port is the inlet?
Motor rotation decides it. Check the arrow or the pump instructions, and plumb the suction line to the inlet port.
Q: What do I do before freezing weather?
Drain the pump by loosening the end cover so trapped water cannot freeze and crack the body or cover.
Q: Why will it not self-prime?
Almost always an air leak on the suction side. Every suction connection must be airtight for the pump to pull a vacuum.
