Jabsco 12490-0003 Stainless Steel Self-Priming Pump, 3/4 HP, Nitrile
The Jabsco 12490-0003 is a 316 stainless steel self-priming flexible impeller pump close coupled to a 3/4 HP, 1725 RPM, 115/230 VAC single phase TEFC motor with a 6 ft cord and three prong grounded plug. The pump end has a nitrile impeller and a lip type shaft seal, with 1 in NPT internal ports, and it is rated at about 26 GPM.
Stainless steel construction makes it a good choice where bronze is not suitable, such as with some food products, chemicals and corrosive liquids, and the nitrile impeller handles oils and many petroleum based liquids. The flexible impeller tolerates some solids and self-primes, so it works well for transfer and circulation jobs. The replacement pump head is Jabsco 12498-0003 and the impeller is 12326-0003.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Which port is the inlet?
Motor rotation decides it. Check the arrow or the pump instructions, and plumb the suction line to the inlet port.
Q: What do I do before freezing weather?
Drain the pump by loosening the end cover so trapped water cannot freeze and crack the body or cover.
Q: Why will it not self-prime?
Almost always an air leak on the suction side. Every suction connection must be airtight for the pump to pull a vacuum.
Q: What is the main service part?
The impeller. Keep a spare with the matching compound, plus an end cover gasket.
