Jabsco 12062-0000 Brass End Cover
The Jabsco 12062-0000 is a genuine replacement end cover in brass for Jabsco flexible impeller pumps. The end cover closes the front of the pump body over the impeller, and its inside face forms one wall of the pumping chamber, so a flat, true surface is what keeps each vane sealed as it sweeps past. It is listed for Jabsco 6400 and 7420 series engine cooling pumps, 11870 and 18330 series clutch pumps and the 18370 pedestal pump.
Over thousands of hours the impeller vanes polish a groove into the inside face of the cover. Once that groove forms, liquid slips back past the vanes, output falls and the pump struggles to prime. Covers also crack when a pump is left full of water in freezing weather. Fit a new cover with a new gasket, and change the impeller at the same time if its vanes are worn or set.

Q: Should I change the impeller at the same time?
If the vanes are cracked, worn or have taken a set, yes. A new cover with a tired impeller will not restore full output.
Q: Can a scored end cover be turned over?
Some older covers were flat both sides, but most have locating features on one face only. A new cover is the reliable fix for a grooved face.
Q: Do I need a new gasket?
Always. The old gasket is compressed to the old cover, and its thickness helps set the internal clearance, so reuse invites leaks and air.
Q: Why did my cover crack?
Most often water froze inside the pump. Drain the pump by loosening the end cover whenever it will see freezing temperatures.
