Finish Thompson PFS-40 PFS Stainless Sealless Drum Pump 40 Inch
Finish Thompson supplies the PFS-40 as a PF drum and container pump with a 40 inch tube in 316 stainless steel. It is supplied as the pump tube and is driven by a matched Finish Thompson motor. The 316 stainless wetted path suits solvents, fuels, oils and food contact duty, where a thermoplastic tube would swell or be attacked.
The point of a pump like this is that nobody has to lift a drum. These are sealless tube pumps, so there is no shaft seal to weep down the outside of the drum, and the bearings are lubricated by the fluid itself rather than by grease. That makes flushing after use the single most useful habit, because a pump left full of product is a pump that seizes.

Wherever sediment may have settled in the container, since debris reaching the impeller is the most common avoidable failure.
Q: What limits the hose size that can be used?
Static safety does. Fluid velocity should stay low enough that charge cannot build, which in practice means matching hose bore to the duty.
Q: Can any motor be fitted to any pump tube?
No. The motor and tube are matched as a system, and the coupling, mounting and power rating all have to correspond.
Q: Does the pump tube length need to match the container?
Yes. The tube should reach close to the bottom of the drum or tote without bottoming out, which is what the length in the model number refers to.
