Finish Thompson KC11PCVN355C KC11 Magnetic Drive Close coupled pump
This is the Finish Thompson KC11 close coupled pump, supplied in glass fiber reinforced polypropylene. It is supplied close coupled to its motor and ready to pipe in. There is no mechanical shaft seal anywhere in the design: the motor turns an outer magnet, and the field couples through a solid containment barrier to the magnet inside the impeller, so the only way out for the pumped fluid is the discharge port.
That construction is why these pumps end up on the duties nobody wants to nurse. A seal is the part that fails on a conventional chemical pump, and removing it removes the leak, the flush plan and the seal inventory along with it. The wetted parts are glass fiber reinforced polypropylene with a carbon bushing and a ceramic shaft, and the elastomers are Viton FKM. The unit is built for a NEMA 56C motor frame. Maximum working pressure for this size is 35 psi, with the housing material setting the temperature ceiling at 180 degrees F.
Key Features
- Sealless magnetic drive with no shaft seal and no leak path
- Glass fiber reinforced polypropylene wetted construction
- Carbon bushing on a ceramic shaft
- Neodymium magnets for full torque in a compact coupling
- Back pull out design so the wet end is serviced without disturbing the piping
Applications
- Acid, caustic and solvent transfer where a leak cannot be tolerated
- Plating, etching, anodizing and metal finishing lines
- Water treatment, scrubber and filtration recirculation
- Laboratory, photo processing and chemical blending systems
- Replacing a sealed pump that keeps failing at the shaft seal

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What causes most premature wet end wear?
Dry running, abrasive solids, and operating well to the left of the curve where recirculation heats the fluid inside the pump.
Q: Does a higher specific gravity fluid need a different pump?
It needs more torque, which is why the heavier duty builds use a stronger magnet coupling rather than a bigger motor alone.
Q: What sets the impeller size on these pumps?
The duty point the pump was ordered for. Each body accepts several trims, and the trim fitted is what puts the pump on its curve.
Q: Can the bushing material be changed later?
Yes, and it often is. Carbon suits most duties and tolerates brief dry running, while PTFE and ceramic are chosen where the chemistry attacks carbon.
