The J103667 is the epdm housing o-ring used in Finish Thompson UltraChem UC1516, UC1516L, UC3156, UC326, UC326H and UC436L pumps. Q: Should the mating groove be cleaned before fitting?
Yes. Old elastomer residue or dried product in the groove stops the new ring seating flat and is a common cause of a repeat weep.
Q: Can the ring be stretched over a housing to fit it?
A small amount of stretch is normal during assembly, but it should relax back into the groove before the joint is drawn together.
Q: How should spare rings be stored?
Cool, dark and away from electric motors, because sunlight and ozone age rubber long before it ever reaches the pump.
Q: Is a lubricant needed on assembly?
Only one known to suit the pumped chemical, and only a trace. The wrong grease can swell the ring as badly as the wrong elastomer.
