The GP22PEB01601806 is a Finish Thompson GP22 close coupled sealed centrifugal pump built in polypropylene. It is supplied close coupled to its motor and ready to pipe in. The wetted parts are polypropylene with 2 inch connections, and the shaft is sealed by a mechanical seal rather than a magnetic coupling, which is what lets this range handle duties beyond the reach of a sealless pump.

Q: Does the pump need a suction strainer?
It is good practice on any close clearance pump, and essential if the system has been newly built or recently opened.
Q: What limits the life of the mechanical seal?
Dry running above all, then thermal shock and solids working between the faces. A seal that has run dry rarely recovers.
Q: Can the seal be changed without pulling the pump from the pipework?
On the back pull out models yes, the rotating assembly comes out with the motor and the casing stays bolted in place.
Q: Does stainless construction suit every chemical?
No. Stainless handles solvents, fuels and many process fluids well, but chlorides and strong acids attack it where a lined or thermoplastic pump would not.
