Finish Thompson AC5STS1V400B015C AC5 Stainless Pump End
Finish Thompson supplies the AC5STS1V400B015C as a AC5 close coupled pump end in 316 stainless steel. It is supplied as the pump end, ready to mount on a motor of the matching frame. The wetted parts are 316 stainless steel with 1-1/4 inch by 3/4 inch connections, and the shaft is sealed by a mechanical seal running carbon against ceramic with Viton FKM elastomers.
These pumps are straightforward to live with as long as the basics are respected. Keep the suction flooded and clear, avoid starting against a dead head, and never let the pump run dry, because the mechanical seal is the part that pays for all three.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What limits the life of the mechanical seal?
Dry running above all, then thermal shock and solids working between the faces. A seal that has run dry rarely recovers.
Q: Can the seal be changed without pulling the pump from the pipework?
On the back pull out models yes, the rotating assembly comes out with the motor and the casing stays bolted in place.
Q: Does stainless construction suit every chemical?
No. Stainless handles solvents, fuels and many process fluids well, but chlorides and strong acids attack it where a lined or thermoplastic pump would not.
Q: What does the impeller trim change?
It sets where the pump sits on its curve, so a smaller trim gives less head and draws less power from the same motor.
