Finish Thompson A101008-2 PVDF Barrier with Ceramic Shaft
This is the factory pvdf barrier with ceramic shaft for Finish Thompson KC11 magnetic drive pumps. It closes off the wet end from the drive magnet and carries the ceramic shaft that the impeller runs on. It is built in PVDF with a ceramic shaft and thrust ring, which is what decides where it can safely be used.
It is one of the parts worth renewing on schedule instead of waiting for a fault. Inspect it whenever the pump is opened. Cracks, a polished groove where the impeller bushing rides, or rub marks from the magnet all mean it has reached the end of its life. Check the pump build before ordering, because these pumps are offered in more than one material and size combination and the alternatives look similar on the shelf.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Should anything else be replaced at the same time?
Whatever the teardown exposes. Elastomers and bushings are inexpensive and are best renewed while the pump is already apart.
Q: What causes most premature failures on this part?
Running the pump outside what it was specified for, whether that is temperature, viscosity, dry running or an incompatible chemical.
Q: Does fitting this affect the pump warranty?
Using the factory part keeps the pump to its original specification, which is what any warranty position depends on.
Q: How should the pump be flushed before service?
With a fluid known to be compatible, so the parts can be handled safely and the old chemical is not carried into the rebuild.
