Flojet 20381-008 Quad Port Kit, 1/2"-14 Male
The Flojet 20381-008 is the genuine Quad-Port snap-in port kit with a 1/2"-14 male thread connection and an EPDM O-ring. It takes the pump’s snap-in port out to a standard threaded connection.
This is the fitting that lets a Quad-Port pump join a threaded plumbing system without compromise at either end. The pump keeps the advantages of the snap-in design — no threads to cross, no sealant, no torque to judge at the pump housing, and a port that comes off by hand for service. The plumbing keeps its threaded connections. The transition happens once, in a single moulded fitting, rather than through a stack of adapters that each add a joint.
On the threaded side the usual care applies: it is a tapered thread sealing on its flanks, so it needs sealant and a firm hand rather than force, and the male form on the fitting is the more forgiving arrangement into a metal female port. On the pump side, push the fitting fully home, confirm the O-ring is undamaged and squarely seated, and fit the clip before pressurising. Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why is the male thread on the fitting rather than the female?
Because when a tapered joint is over-tightened it is the female half that splits. Putting the male thread on the fitting and the female on the metal port is the more forgiving arrangement.
Q: How much sealant does the threaded end need?
Enough to fill the thread flanks and no more — two or three wraps of tape or a thin even film of paste, kept back from the leading thread so nothing can shed into the water.
Q: Should I fit the threaded end before or after clipping it into the pump?
Make the threaded joint first while the fitting can still turn freely, then push it into the pump and fit the clip. That way nothing is being twisted as you tighten.
Q: Can the same pump take different port types at each end?
Yes. Each port is independent, so it is entirely normal to run a barbed fitting on one side and a threaded one on the other.
